This project queries how we experience sound and moving image, with a particular emphasis on immersivity. The goal is to create artworks that blur the boundary between virtual and physical experience. The project will draw from existing notions of immersivity that have roots in installation art, and build upon the history of acousmatic music and the creative uses of surround-sound systems. New developments in interactive media and virtual/augmented reality will be explored, resulting in non-traditional research outputs in the form of immersive experiences, and traditional research outputs that report on the theories and processes developed to deliver these experiences.
